Privacy policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

LK Installations ("we", "us") installs Gemstone Lights permanent lighting on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, from the Comox Valley to Port Hardy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through lkinstallations.ca, why we collect it, and your choices. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Information we collect

When you contact us

If you use our quote form, call or email us, we collect what you give us: your name, email, phone number, community and details about your project. We use it only to respond to you, prepare your quote and provide our services. Our form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our site and the services it uses, such as Cloudflare and Gemstone Lights' dealer badge, automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type. We use it to keep the site working and secure.

When you use the "See your home lit up" design tool

This tool is provided by Gemstone Lights, the manufacturer of the lighting we install, and runs on Gemstone Lights' systems. If you use it, it collects:

  • the photo of your home that you upload;
  • your mobile number, to text you a one-time verification code and a link to your design;
  • if you request a quote: your name, email, street address, city, postal code, province and country, and a record of your consent.

Your photo is sent to an artificial-intelligence image service to create the lighting design. Text messages are sent through a messaging provider, and Cloudflare Turnstile is used to block automated abuse. Your quote request is sent to us so we can contact you about it. Gemstone Lights keeps a copy of quote requests as the operator of the tool.

How long it is kept:

  • Photos from designs that don't lead to a quote request are deleted within about 30 days.
  • If you request a quote, your photo and design are kept with your request.
  • The finished design is kept so the link we texted you keeps working.
  • Verification records are deleted after 90 days.

The tool also records usage statistics, such as which step of the tool a visitor reached. These statistics don't include names, phone numbers or photos.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, for example pages viewed, device type and approximate location. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or through your browser's cookie settings.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business and the design tool (such as Gemstone Lights and its image, messaging and hosting providers), only as needed to provide the service, or when required by law. Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

  • Quote requests that don't lead to a job are deleted within 2 years of our last contact with you.
  • If you become a customer, we keep your details and a record of the work for as long as your warranty runs and as long as tax law requires.

We protect your information with reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections to our site and access limited to the people who need it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, withdraw your consent to being contacted, or ask us to delete your information by contacting us below. We will respond within the time required by PIPA. Kent, the owner, is responsible for privacy at LK Installations.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
