Top Benefits of Installing Gemstone Lights in Campbell River

Rancher with steep gables outlined in warm white lights on a dark evening

There are a few permanent lighting brands around now, from DIY kits at the big box stores to professionally installed systems. We install one of them, Gemstone Lights, and nothing else. Here is why it’s a good fit for homes in Campbell River and the communities around it.

Built for our kind of weather

Campbell River averages close to 1,500 mm of precipitation a year, and November, right when holiday lights matter most, is the wettest month. Lights on a house here need to shrug off a lot of rain.

Gemstone designs its lights for freezing cold, high heat and strong wind. It rates each light IP67 against water, uses UV-rated cables and seals every connection with a threaded compression fit. The company was started in Calgary, by someone who wanted lights that could survive Calgary winters, and it’s Canadian owned.

A warm white that looks like porch light

Most of the year, permanent lights are just good exterior lighting, so the white matters. Every Gemstone light has a dedicated warm white diode alongside its red, green and blue ones, rated at 2800K to 3000K. On an ordinary evening the house looks softly lit rather than blue or harsh. When you want colour, there are over 16 million to choose from.

You barely see them by day

The lights sit in an aluminium track that runs along the soffit, and Gemstone makes that track in more than 150 colours. We match it to your trim, so in daylight the house looks the way it always has. The wiring is hidden.

Certified hardware

Gemstone says all of its lights carry either ETL or UL certification and are approved for sale and installation in Canada and the United States. Its newer 48V system is Class 2 certified, with overcurrent and short-circuit protection.

A local installer, not a box in the mail

Gemstone systems are only sold and installed by authorized dealers. There’s no do-it-yourself version, and Gemstone has each new dealer complete a job that a Gemstone representative approves.

LK Installations is an authorized Gemstone dealer based in Campbell River. We cover the Comox Valley, the islands and the North Island up to Port Hardy, and our Gemstone dealer profile shows a 100% score across 111 customer surveys. If a light ever needs attention, you call someone local.

A warranty that matches how long they stay up

Permanent outdoor lights from Gemstone have a lifetime warranty on the lights and 10 years on the rest of the system, as long as the warranty is registered within 30 days of installation. Gemstone defines lifetime using a rating of 50,000 hours, which works out to about 20 years at 7 hours a day. The warranty page has the details for every product.

An app with no monthly fee

The Gemstone Lights app is free, with no subscription. It has more than 14,000 ready-made patterns, timers that follow the sunset, and Autopilot calendars that change the lights for holidays and game days by themselves. Gemstone says it has installed more than 9 million lights in total.

The short version

If you want lights that stay up through a coastal winter, look right on an ordinary evening and come with someone local to call, Gemstone is a strong choice. See what it would cost for your house on the cost page, or ask us for a free quote.
